Safe and healthy treats for your dog
After the petfood recall, I replaced my dog's biscuit treats with Dogwell's Vitality dried chicken breasts, as they contain nothing except chicken. With the recent scare about Bestro's dried chicken breasts (sold at Wallmart) coming from China and causing illness, I looked more closely at mine, and found in very small print that although they are distributed in the U.S., they are also manufactured in China. So I was back to square one on what to give as treats. I found 2 that have minimal ingredients in them, and primarily meat, and my dogs both love them.
Wellness Pure Rewards (moist jerky treats): ingredients - meat, dried chickory root, cultured whey, sea salt, lecithin, garlic, and mixed tocopherols (a natural preservative). 95% high-quality real meat from the US and Canada; no grains, wheat, meat by-products, artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. I purchase mine at Only Natural Pet Store; link is on the right.
Charlee Bear treats: ingredients - ground chicken, broccoli, spinach, carrots, sweet potato, turkey livers, turkey hearts, fish meal, ground almonds, natural flavors and dried kelp. (58% chicken, 12% turkey, and also grain-free).
A 3rd option is Newman's Own Organic Dog Treats. Although it doesn't contain meat, it has good ingredients and all are certified organic. It can be purchased at Amazon.com or Only Natural Pet Store; links are on the left.

Hi Chris. I love your blog topic. Thanks for all the info. I would like to get your personal recommendation for adult puppy kibbles. I am about to switch my 14 month olds to adult food. I don't want to pay an arm and a leg if possible. Your Abby is adorable!
Chris,
Thank you again for visiting my site. I want you to know that people keep refering to me as "fat" because I was sick and lost a lot of weight. Now I am gaining it back and we are all very happy. I just don't want you to think my fam and friends are insensitive...well some of them are. LOL! I'll keep blogging my vacation so stop by. Again, your site is very helpful. I am a proponent of all natural/safe puppy food. Have you heard of Flint River Ranch? It is what I am using right now. Talk to you later, Cat
Mzing,
I hope you received the reply I left on your site as a comment regarding food. If not, Canidae is a good, less expensive all natural kibble. Hope it's working for you.
