There's an online service called "FindToto.com," very much like an Amber Alert for stolen or lost pets. This service was started by a pet owner who lost their own cat and saw what a time-consuming and difficult undertaking it was to call all their neighbors and post fliers. Unfortunately they never found their pet, but if such a service was in existence at the time, the outcome could have been very different.
One of the great things about this service is that you don't have to sign up for it unless you find yourself in need of it. Why not check out this site for missing pets right now so you're familiar with it. Then if you ever lose a pet, go to their site, sign up for the service, and within the hour they are alerting your neighbors to be on the lookout. The service is operated 7 days a week. Cost is based on how many neighbors you'd like them to call, and ranges from $59.99 to $500 (for $59.99 they will call 250 neighbors). To me, this service would be priceless for a lost dog or cat.
